Forestry Habitat Management Guidelines for Vernal Pool Wildlife

This document provides habitat management guidelines for maintaining vernal pool biodiversity in forested landscapes, especially in the commercially-harvested forests of northern New York and New England. The recommendations in this document will aid in the protection of wildlife associated with vernal pools in a managed or working forested landscape. The design goal is to maintain vernal pool diversity in forested landscapes especially in commercially harvested areas. This is in sharp contrast to areas where habitat is being permanently converted to subdivisions and impervious surface with no chance for subsequent habitat recovery.
